Flock Project, an idea conceived in 2018, has had a timely settle in to the Horniman Museum, in South London, from 27th May until April 2024. At a time when migration is the biggest story in the news, Flock Project quietly reflects on the memories of refugees, many of whom have overcome difficult journeys to the UK, expressed through clay and ‘birdcraft’. Just before the museum undergoes a major refurbishment, the project connects the birds on display with the historic original museum labels which highlights migration routes found in nature.
